The Best Christmas Lights

I live near Vancouver BC, and Langley. I want to be able to go see a bunch of christmas lights in one evening with my family. Any Ideas of some cheap/free places to go? I don’t want to have to drive too far or pay much.

Well if you keep an eye out on the Vancouver Sun, then you’ll be sure to see the page they dedicate to all those amazing houses! It should be coming out later this month. Also there’s Van Dusen Gardens, as well as Stanley Park. Stanley Park is free, and then there’s the Christmas train, (which you have to pay for, but it’s not much.)

I have a Christmas video of my children that has tracking problems and I want to record it onto a dvd so that it plays through without fixing the tracking. How would I do this?

It could be that the equipment you will use to play the video can auto-fix the tracking problem as it records. You just have to try it to see, I guess. If not, you will have to fix the problems with the video before you re-record it, or you will be recording the errors too. Take it to a place that specializes in this procedure, it might cost more, but it will be worth it to have those memories preserved in a way that you can enjoy watching them.

I have a circuit with 3 outlets and a 20 amp breaker for my christmas lights. The first outlet is a ground fault outlet. The other 2 are normal outlets. After about 15 or 20 minutes my breaker trips. I really dont think I have over 20 amps in lights. I would think that if it were a short due to snow the ground fault would trip first, but its not. I was very careful to waterproof all extension cord joins as best I could. Any thought are appreciated.

You thinking is correct. Here is more. A short circuit between wires will trip the breaker immediately and it will not reset. So the breaker is tripping due to an overload condition. An overload causes heat inside the circuit breaker, causing it to trip thermally as opposed to magnetically as it does from a short circuit. A short to ground due to snow in excess of 5 mili-amps will cause the ground fault to trip rather than the breaker. So the answer is, overload. Do you know anyone with a clamp on amp meter? That will show you the actual load. Check the GFCI by pushing the test button.
