Spanish Christmas music can be enjoyed by everyone over the Christmas holiday – including native and non-native Spanish speakers. Some Spanish Christmas music includes traditional Christmas carols and hymns; other songs may be more modern, inspired by pop-music. Traditional Spanish Christmas songs may also be Spanish versions of English Christmas carols, with translated lyrics. For example, there are Spanish versions of the popular English Christmas carols “What Child is This?” and “Silent Night.” There is also a slightly different version of “The Twelve Days of Christmas” available in Spanish.
One of the most popular Spanish Christmas songs is “Feliz Navidad,” which translates to “Merry Christmas.” This song was written by Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Jose Feliciano four decades ago. Today, “Feliz Navidad” is considered by some to be a classic Spanish Christmas song.
Many popular Spanish artists have recorded Christmas albums, including singer Luis Miguel. In 2006, Miguel released ”Navidades,” a collection of Christmas songs that mixes the traditional with the modern. Cuts include Spanish versions of “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” to “Winter Wonderland.”
If you’ve got a Ricky Martin fan in the house, the Latin American pop idol did record a Christmas song called “Ay Ay Ay It’s Christmas.” The song was includded on Rosie O’Donnell’s 2000 album “Another Rosie Christmas.” The song can be downloaded online.

Relient K is an American Christian rock band formed in 1998 in Canton, Ohio by Matt Thiessen, Brian Pittman, and Matt Hoopes during the band’s junior year in high school and their time at Malone College. The band is named after guitarist Hoopes’ automobile, a Plymouth Reliant K car, with the spelling intentionally altered to avoid trademark infringement over the Reliant name.
The group is associated with the Contemporary Christian Music culture, most notably the Christian rock and Christian punk scene. Despite being a Christian band the group has performed alongside secular artists. The band has reached critical success with mainstream pop punk and alternative rock. The band’s sound incorporates piano and acoustic elements; and the lyrical content often refers to God, Jesus, and the terms “You” and “Him” are used in reference to God. Since its formation, Relient K has released six studio albums, seven EPs, two Christmas albums, and one collection of rarities. The band has received numerous awards including a Grammy Award nomination in 2003 for Best Rock Gospel Album and two Dove Awards.
Relient K is best known commercially for their two studio albums which peaked in the top 15 of the US Billboard 200 chart. After signing with Capitol Records, they broke into the mainstream in 2004 with the release of Mmhmm, which debuted at #15 on the Billboard 200. In 2007, their fifth album brought the most success for Relient K, Five Score and Seven Years Ago debuted at #6 on the US Billboard 200 and sold 60,000 records in its debut week. The band has sold over 2 million records, with three albums being given gold certification by the RIAA. The band is also highly successful throughout the Christian Albums and Contemporary Christian Music charts. Their newest album Forget and Not Slow Down was released on October 6, 2009.
Let It Snow, Baby… Let It Reindeer Album
Let It Snow, Baby… Let It Reindeer is the second Christmas album by Christian rock band Relient K. It was released on October 23, 2007, selling 4,500 copies in its first week. The album is a re-release of the band’s first Christmas album, Deck the Halls, Bruise Your Hand, but with seven new songs and some other changes, such as track listing and a new ending to one song. The details were announced by Jesus Freak Hideout on August 21, 2007, and by IGN around the same time. The album peaked at #96 on the Billboard 200 list in its fourth week and at #15 on iTunes. “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” played during the December 14th 2007 episode of Ghost Whisperer. A re-issue of the album was released on iTunes on November 18, 2008. It includes renditions of “Silver Bells,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” and “O Holy Night,” as well as a music video for their version of “Sleigh Ride.”
The band’s video for “Sleigh Ride” was made by Funny Pages Productions. It is an animated video, and the band had mentioned in recent years that they always wanted to do an animated video. It features all of the band members as rabbits in Winter. The Matt Thiessen rabbit fails to get the attention of a girl rabbit, which leads the other four band members to steal Santa’s sleigh so that he can impress her. After the two take off in the sleigh, Santa tries to get it back by using a giant snowman. After some close calls, the other band members build a snowwoman to draw the snowman off. In the end, they give Santa his sleigh back, and the Ethan Luck rabbit sneaks a present from Santa’s sleigh for Matt to give to the girl rabbit. The video was released in November 2008.
