Christmas light and music display
With 43,000 lights, including 16,000 lights that make up an 11 foot tall “mega tree,” Art Carpenter’s Christmas light show is a wonder to behold. Synched with both classic and modern Christmas tunes, the show runs for about 15 minutes, and will delight audiences young and old.
Carpenter, a resident of Peachtree City, spent nine months programming the display and hopes that residents will come by to share in the holiday cheer. “I spent, sometimes, 40 to 50 hours programming one minute of music,” the homeowner said.
Prior to this undertaking, Carpenter had no experience with computer programming. A Delta Air Lines pilot by trade, he first got the programming bug after viewing the viral Christmas light show video that made its way into email inboxes across the nation before being tapped for television commercials.
The show’s lights come in three colors, red, white and green, and dance to the sounds of Christmas carols like “Silent Night,” “Jingle Bells” and “Winter Wonderland.”
The show, which Carpenter plans to keep running through the end of December, can be viewed at 309 Cumberland Court, Peachtree City, in The Preserve subdivision.
The Carpenters invite residents to come out and view the show as many times as you’d like. The show runs on a continuous loop and generally runs from 6 to 9 p.m. weeknights and 6 to 10:30 p.m. on weekends.
